Spider Crane - Small Job

Yesterday American Industrial Werks did a little job for a company called Forgotten Times, which specializes in fixing old watches.  The project entailed removing a Deckel FP1 machine from the basement of a residential home (the seller) and installing it in the back room of the Forgotten Times store. With the machine weighing in at a mere 1400 lbs, one might think this to be a simple job. However, anyone who has done a job like this, knows that often times moving a machine "in" is far easier than taking it out... down is easy.

To deal with the tight conditions we decided to bring in a Spider Crane for the job. Particular care and attention was given to protect the yard and patio from damage as well as staying clear of the house gutters while lifting the machine from the basement stairway landing.

Once the machine was out of the basement, it was just a matter of a forklift, a few carts and some good old fashion muscle to set the Deckel and all the related parts into the Forgotten Times store.  The machine has a new life and purpose now.  Once used to make parts for custom model train engines, now it will make parts to restore that treasured antique watch handed down from one generation to another.

Many machinery moving and rigging companies deem jobs like this as "too small".  Here at American Industrial Werks, we realize that America is built on small jobs.  We like to help our customers grow today with their small job, so next year or the year after (whatever it takes), we can help them grow to be a bit bigger.

40' Silo Installation

Featured Project: 40' Silo Installation

AIW crews were tasked with unloading two used 40' silos, standing them up and into position, then anchoring, and installing the catwalk between the two units.

Two cranes were used to stand up the silos. Gusting winds made this job a challenge, however the silos were still set and anchored in one day.

Because these were used silos the catwalk was cut into multiple pieces for transportation. Steel fabrication was necessary to put the catwalk back together and complete the installation.

Oversize Load - Engel 450

Recently on a cold and snowy day, we loaded up an Engel 450 injection mold machine. The machine weight was 54,000 lbs and it was an oversize load. We used a Versa-Lift 40/60 for the lift, which handled the job with no trouble at all.

At American Industrial Werks we take on the little jobs and the big jobs. We're happy to help the little guy move his new Bridgeport into his garage shop or help the big production shop grow their company with an new 125,000 lb Van Dorn injection mold machine.

Florida - http://www.fl-machinerymovers.com

This is an ongoing project to identify for businesses true machinery movers, erectors and riggers. Often times supporting companies such as heavy haul trucking, crane companies and rigging equipment suppliers get lumped into this category but are really just a supporting service.

Wind Turbine Installations

Take a drive South or West of Chicago, IL and it won’t be long before you see vast acres of land filled with wind turbines either running or being installed. In fact, according to the Chicago Sun-Times and the American Wind Energy Association, in 2011, Illinois topped the nation in the number of new wind turbines installations and ranked second only to California in the total amount of the turbines’ power capacity.

With about 50 wind energy companies in the Chicago area and approximately twenty eight companies in Illinois manufacturing components for the wind industry, this green energy business is booming. American Industrial Werks, Inc. is also taking part in this growth sector by specializing in the rigging aspect of generator installations in the field. In addition, it provides machinery moving and installation services to wind energy component manufacturers along with industrial curtain installations to control facility temperatures and dust from the manufacturing process.
